i was thinking about buying a 3.6mw from GE Wind and i wonder how much the basic 3. mw turbine would be?

I can't speak specifically about any make or model of wind turbine, but I've heard a general rule of thumb that you can expect to pay a minimum of $1.5 million per MW. That would equal out to about $4.5 million for a 3 MW machine. Note that this is the installed cost, so it includes everything it takes to get the turbine up and running, not just the purchase price of the turbine itself.

The cost of turbines has been rising lately, so it might be more realistic to expect to pay closer to $2 million per MW.
