Windbag |
jdv,
Thanks for your post. Well, the first step is to determine if you have enough wind on your property. This preliminary determination can be made by looking at a wind resource map. The State of Iowa has put together a wind energy guide that has a stout wind resource assessment section, which may be useful: Iowa Wind Energy Manual - http://www.energy.iastate.edu/renewable/wind/wem-index.html Here is some more general information on hosting wind turbines: http://www.windustry.org/opportunities/lease.htm And links to wind energy development companies: http://www.windustry.org/resources/companies_developers.htm Widustry is currently in the editing process of a "Community Wind Energy Tool Box," which should be on line by next spring, so stay tuned for a comprehensive and up-to-date guide to community wind development. |
