You can find links to wind maps for most states at the Wind Powering America web site.

A wind map for Illinois is at this web site.

Would any of you know where I can find a wind resource map for Illinois? I am in a very similar situation as dellavedova, and will appreciate it.

ND Wind,

Your bank or financing company might very well have a preference, but it could go either way. In addition to modeled or recorded data, they might require comparison to nearby historic data, or modeling in addition to data collection to see whether or not you were measuring an average year or an unusual year.

The best way to move forward would be to get in touch with potential lenders and ask them what they would require. Depending on the size of the loan/project, they might do their own independent assessment of the site.

If you're interested, we've got some more information about wind assessment on our web site.

I have been interested in developing a wind project and have been reading up on the various ways to determine the actual wind energy of a site. There seems to be two options, software modeling and annomometer measurements. Does a bank or finacing company have a preference when it comes down to approving the application. It seems to me that actual recorded data would be more accurate. Second if this is the case does a lending agency question the source of the information particulaly if it is measured by the individual requesting the financing.

Thanks
