I own a farm in Jones County Texas where Florida Light and Power own huge transmission lines that cross my property. Earlier this year they upgraded 1 of the towers on my property to a massive structure. Now they have erected a test tower with many sensors on my neighbors property. Do I need to be in contact with someone about a lease?

It sounds like Florida Light and Power might be thinking about installing turbines near your farm. It's a good idea to start thinking about your options now, whether that be leasing land or developing wind power yourself.
A good place for you to start would be to read the Windustry web site about easements and leases, at: http://windustry.org/Easements/default.htm Or, try reading our web page called "What does a farmer need to know about wind energy?" at: http://windustry.org/opportunities/farmer.htm When negotiating a lease, it's always a good idea to contact an expert (probably a lawyer) to help you out. Monnie,
I'm actually working on a few projects in Jones County right now and would be happy to further discuss with you the various opportunities available for installing wind turbines on your property. Please feel free to call (512-305-0945) or email (richard@ventienergy.com) or send me your contact information and I will call you. I am based in Austin and look forward to hearing from you.
