Bill,
Feel free to email me your contact information. I will provide you with a list of developers that I've worked with in the past. Thank you, Jeff jeff@orionconstruct.com |

Thanks for the great question Bill!
This may be more than you were bargaining for, but here goes... There are a few things to keep in mind when you're looking to lease your land to a developer. These guidelines might be a good starting place before you make the call to the developer. Windustry has developed some "best practice" documents on land owners' rights, various agreements, and compensation packages as they relate specifically to wind development. Please see this information here: http://www.windustry.org/easements/default.htm This is good background to have under your belt before beginning these conversations. Once you are square on your rights and options as a landowner, making your land "attractive" to a developer might be the next step, so that your property is most appealing of other options they may be looking at currently. As you well know, wind energy is growing very fast, and in many new places, so developers are prospecting all over. To make your proposition attractive, it is a good idea to know the nature of your wind resources and the proximity of the transmission to your property. These are two key factors in the development process. More information on these topics can be found: http://www.windustry.org/basics/default.htm. After all of this background homework, you may want to contact the developer. Sometimes, it is less easy than one would imagine to call a developer and have them come look at your site. They are very busy folks. A list of developers can be found at: http://www.windustry.org/resources/developers.htm or at: http://www.awea.org/ - go to the members directory on the right side of the page. Sorry for putting the short answer at the end, but I believe that this background info is important to the rest of the process. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Kind regards, Cole Has anyone out there on the Network had good luck contacting a developer to lease your property? |
