We have about 30 acres in Texas. The DFW area. We are wanting to put up a wind turbine on our farm. I am trying to find out what grants are available. How would I go about applying for one?

Hello Stacy,
Thanks for your interest in wind energy. There is a great resource for finding grants and other types of incentives that are available in your state. It's called the Data Base of State Incentives for Renewable Energy: www.dsireusa.org It is the most comprehensive source for this type of information. Another source you might try is the U.S. Department of Agriculture. They have grants available for renewable energy and energy efficency project planning and project construction for farmers in rural areas. For more detailed information about the programs they offer you can contact the Texas USDA Rural Development office: www.rurdev.usda.gov/tx There may aslo be other programs in Texas to help you understand what your wind development options are. Read through the Windpowering America (Department of Energy) website about federal wind power programs that support projects in the state of Texas. http://www.eere.energy.gov/windandhydro/windpoweringame...plate.asp?stateab=TX That's probably enough to get you going for now. Please feel free to contact me or post again if you have further questions or need other information. -Brian |
