Hi Jake!

Keep us posted on how your turbine is doing!

As far as taxes go, what I always tell people is: this stuff can be complicated, and there are experienced tax professionals who can help you. Especially when you're dealing with something unusual like your situation, off-the-shelf tax prep software may not be able to deal with things in a way that's adequate for a normal person.

I am a 50 yr old prosecuting attorney currently starting to run a campaign for a judgeship. I raise endangered species of tortoises on my 5 ac spread here in West Central Minnesota. Last August I turned on my Jacobs 31-20 and have cut my electricity bill in half. Was hoping for better, but will wait and see how it does on an annual basis.

As a criminal attorney, I am currently seeking assistance on how to plug this expense into TurboTax and where, and if, I can still take the MACRS deduction. Any suggestions?

Jake

Hello. My name is Mike Long. I own farm land in Briscoe County in the Southern Texas Panhandle. Wind energy interests have established themselves in earnest in Briscoe County. Shell WindEnergy, Horizon Wind Energy (EDP), and RES have leased thousands of acres in Briscoe County. Adjoining Briscoe County to the south is Floyd County. BP has obtained a large acreage block there. Briscoe/Floyd Counties have the topography that generates a dominant wind flow. The capacity in some protions of these two counties range from 42% to 46%, with the highest capacity in Briscoe. As of now, there is not enough transmission line to export the huge energy potential, but solutions are on the drawing board. If the transmission line is constructed, Briscoe County will be the site of the world's largest wind farm.
