I've had a couple calls from a guy in southern Georgia who is working on a small wind turbine project. I've directed him to lots of general resources, but does anybody have any local or regional contacts or resources I can pass on to him? He's having trouble finding anybody who knows anything or is even interested in working on wind in his area. (And yes, he knows that Georgia has pretty limited wind potential, but he's persistent.)

Hi Sarah!
This comment may be a bit late, but I just wanted to pass along a few leads for the GA gentleman. 1) The GA Wind Working Group is just formalizing, and while his interest may be more personal, these folks might know of some local contacts. Rita KilpatricK (kilpatrick@cleanenergy.org) with the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, or Cyrus Bhedwar (cyrus@gefa.ga.gov) might be able to point him in the right direction. 2)The NC Small Wind Initiative offers regional consultation, technical advice, and workshops that this gentleman may be interested in as well. There are a few workshops and events coming-up this fall that he may find useful to learn more about his options for small wind. The SWI Small Wind Research & Demonstration Facility is always open to the public, and tours can be arranged if he would like to see some of his tubine options in action. Contact information for the SWI: http://www.wind.appstate.edu wind@appstate.edu (828)262-7333. 3) Also, the Southern Energy & Environment Expo is a great home-scale renewable energy event not far from GA. http://www.seeexpo.com (small wind workshop there too.) 4)Finallty, the Southeast & Mid-Atlantic Regional Wind Summit will have a small wind technical session on September 20th in Raleigh, NC. Wind Summit Website Hope this is helpful. Cool message board! Take care, Cole |
