The 2006 Minnesota Wind Integration Study was released in December 2006.
This study found that increased wind generation to supply 15, 20 or 25 percent of Minnesota retail electric energy sales by the year 2020 could be reliably incorporated into the electric power system, at a cost of less than $0.0045 per kWh of wind energy generation. The study was prompted by a requirement adopted by the Minnesota State Legislature in May 2005. Performed by an outside consultant with the participation of all Minnesota utilities, it was directed by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and reviewed by an extensive committee of regional and national experts. Links to the complete report and a summary slide presentation are available on Windustry’s website. Marin Byrne Windustry marin@windustry.org 612-870-3469 |
